FAIRYTALE WEDDING

Here is the Hurdy Gurdy Man! Yesterday, as the autumn sun warmed the chilly afternoon air, he led us to the Witch's Stone in Meanwood Park, Leeds, for a joyful pagan wedding.

Here is the lovely couple - bewitching, and bewitched by each other.

CONGRATULATIONS!

We followed the music...

...down the lane...

...for dancing in the streets...

...and in the village hall.

Here is the enchanting wedding cake!

Later, the evening's entertainment was provided by Herb Diamante, beguiling entertainer - part Iggy Pop, part Cilla - he sang The Monster Mash. If you wish to hear him singing the wonderfully wistful "Mr Lonely", please click on this link.

Magical!

  3. now thats MY kinda wedding!
I think the beauty of this day and age is you can do things how YOU really want to do them, and be who you REALLY are without the struggle against convention (parents?!) that we seem to have had to (try and) overcome.
I was only talking to a friend about this at the weekend, that actually in our lifetime being gay was illegal, and being black meant sitting separately, and it doesn't matter how many leaps forward we make technically, we've been the generation that saw those changes- how wow is that??
Oh dear, was I on a soapbox? but I just so love people not having to pretend anymore...

    1. I agree with everything you say, Elaine! And thank you for pointing out that some things have improved because, usually, never a day goes by when Mr N & I don't sigh and say "This world!"

  4. What a joyous and unique occasion. I love the dancing photo and the one of the Hurdy Gurdy man followed by the children - he looks like the Pied Piper of Hamelin.

  5. Utterly joyful. Everything about it looks so relaxed. I clicked on every photo to take in the detail and particularly loved the dancing in the street and the outfits the little girls were wearing. Oh to have had shoes like them!

    1. The little bridesmaids loved their toadstool dresses and spotty shoes. The shoes had a built in squeak - they went "ee, ee, ee..." all day long.
      Hee hee!
