Getting his own back...

...getting my own back!

  1. Oh wow it's my eldest daughter's birthday today as well. She's celebrating in Australia where she's emigrated. Though she did visit us in the run up a couple of weeks ago. We drank a toast in bubbly to her tonight.

  2. Happy Birthday to your daughter too! I was just going to delete this post because it's a bit soppy, but since you've been kind enough to look & comment I shall let it stay!

    1. Belatedly realised that I didn't wish your Smiling Boy a Happy Birthday. But I bet he did have one though. And your post is not soppy, it's heartwarming and delightful to read. You're his mum and it's our duty( and privilege) to embarrass our grown up children, though I do it mostly on Facebook these days. Cx

  6. A proud mum... and rightly so; his turn will come to embarrass his children... it's the way of the world.

Happy birthday smiling boy with no name.

    1. I'm a bit funny about pride, LL - I don't go in for it really. I love 'em whatever, that's all.

  7. You are one of the greatest social historians I know...a fabulous record, what a beautiful collection of images. I hope some historian of the future discovers this collection in cyber space, or wherever these blogs reside, and is as excited by the find as you or I would be by a Victorian photo album or box of family photos which tell a tale. Lovely. Jx

    1. What a lovely idea - I hope an interested descendant of mine finds my blog because the present lot aren't very interested!

  8. He looks a lovely fellow, someone to be proud of - and as you mention a smiling one too. I bet he has brought so much laughter and fun into your lives. What a blessing our sons are. Lovely to see the love you have given him being handed on to his own little family.

    1. He's not quite such a smiler now he's all grown up - but actually this post (I forced him to have a look) produced a lovely grin!

  10. What a lovely post, the images say it all nilly and the one with you looking adoringly into your son's face just touched something in me. We do love our children, sometimes it makes my heart want to burst. A lovely lovely family he has of his own. I am sure he will secretly love your blog post, I did. Jaynex

    1. Yes, Jayne, I know that feeling so well - it makes all the worrying worthwhile!
And he actually seemed to like the blog post, though his 14 year old thought it hilarious!

  11. How lovely - I already love looking back at photos of my children and they are still so young. Seeing these photos of your lovely family and your smiling boy really underlines the importance of taking lots and lots of photos - even when our children have children of their own. Oh I DO hope I live long enough for that!
And so glad you left this post up - it's not soppy! And a happy birthday to smiling boy.

    1. You are so right about photos - my husband's family didn't take very many & he finds this quite sad. And of course he thinks there are more pics of his siblings than of him!

  12. What a fabulous family! Sadly I have no sons nor any grandchildren and think it is great that you celebrate your bounty with these lovely, happy photos.
