... and all sorts of other people were out in the midday sun at Arthur Swallow's Lincolnshire Antiques & Home Show last week!
This pair almost won the award for sweetest terriers in show until Mr N bagged the prize with these two antique terracotta cuties .
I wonder if we can bear to part with them?

A lovely themed post...I was shocked to see a beautiful real live golden lab puppy for sale at a vide grenier in Carcassonne a couple of weeks ago. I thought he was just sitting there, amongst his owner's bric a brac, but then noticed the sign attached to his collar.... 50 Euros.....I had to be dragged away..... I wanted him so much.
ReplyDeleteWe have seen travellers doing this at car boot sales here, not blatantly but by approaching people with their appealing pups and having a quiet word.
DeleteThe whole thing is dismaying.
Maybe you should live with them for a bit , and then decide....
ReplyDeletethey are awfully cute.
Yes - I think that's what we'll do!
DeleteI have a feeling that "...I wonder if we can bear to part with them?..." is the MOST used phrase in the antique-dealing dictionary! (even more so than "wots the death on this, mate" which I heard asked of a stallholder at Kempton once, as he was being carted off in an ambulance with a ruptured gall bladder- and, to his credit, he sold the candlesticks and the ambulance driver took the money for him!!)
ReplyDeleteGoodness me!
DeleteMy favourite antiques dealer remark (and I heard it today) is "What can you do on that love?"
So tempting to be vulgar but, of course, I always resist.
'Every man and his dog' springs to mind with this post.....
ReplyDeleteIt looks to have been quite a treasure trove and I agree, don't be hasty and keep them for a while, till you decide!
You have some lovely trips out Nilly, I do enjoy your posts...
LoVe Maria x
Yes, you really get around when you're in the antiques biz!
DeleteOooh lots of lovely treasures, had my beady eye on the part upholstered chairs! They are so gorgeous I would keep them for a while and decide later. Wish I lived nearer, we have no fairs of that ilk up north! x
ReplyDeleteYou would probably enjoy a trip to the Saturday York Racecourse Car Boot Sale - it's really a big outdoor antiques fair - lots of old things, furniture too.
DeleteI just love you photos and the posts... Please keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteHa Ha, I love the well loved doggy sitting on the stool; he looks as if he is just about to spring off it. And the last two look so surprised!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for looking!
