YESTERDAY

I did my best to record, for blog posterity, Monday's IACF outdoor antiques fair at Swinderby airfield but the resulting photographs are hardly exciting...

...in fact the weather gave it such a gloomy, doomy atmosphere that I felt sure I was stuck in Sunday night's episode of Wallander!

Buying and selling were brisk despite the weather and we managed to find some treasures.
First a Victorian Suffolk Puff patchwork cot cover

A beautiful 19th century black velvet bag embroidered with brightly coloured beadwork designs, Native American in origin and showing the influence of Christian missionaries.

And a slightly naughty, very humourous Georgian guide book to Bath...

...Gosh, I haven't heard THAT name since I was a bored 6 year old!

    1. More scary than interesting - and to think it used to be just "nice young men" in the antiques business.

  3. Yes - the bag and the gun man; very interesting! Also, love the captions in the Georgian books. (But I have forgotten gloomy weather - it still looks gloomy!) Axxx

    1. More gloom ahead too, at home in England we're becoming bored with talking about the weather - your photos are always so sparkly & sunny.

  4. Six Suffolk puffs done already, only a swillion more to do to make a lovely cot cover. Then I've got to put it away for a 100 years to become beautifully faded and floppy. Have I got time I wonder?

Is that you in the mirror I spy? Clever if it is; was it intentional?

    1. I agree - weather talk is taboo. On the bright side, least it's summer and there are plenty of gorgeous flowers about.
