UP ALONG AND DOWN ALONG - WHERE ?

We started off here...

First - a medieval manor house filled with charming curiosities.

***

Second - refreshments and antiques in my sort of town - it's a favourite with Hugh, too.

***

Third - ammonites and Annings be here.

***

Fourth - a golden and glorious setting for a WAG wedding...

...and plenty to make my day memorable.

Tea for one.

Places revealed:

The Start - Lower Severalls Farm (highly recommended).

First - Lytes Cary Manor, Somerset.
Second - Bridport, Dorset.
Third - Lyme Regis, Dorset.
Fourth - Montacute House, Somerset.

    1. Yes, so do I. You may know that Mary Anning was a fossil collector in Dorset, a working class woman, but with a keen eye and good knowledge of geology.

    1. Yes - a bit too green. I must hack some greenery down in my garden, in case there are some flowers hiding in there.

  7. As soon as I saw your first photo I knew that you were in the west country, my neck of the woods. The colour of the stone was the give away. Then seeing Montacute gardens and house was the clincher. Lovely trip and photos Nilly.

    1. We are re-discovering all sorts of wonderful places now that our youngest son has, more or less, become grown up. That has been the only draw-back with having a late baby!

  8. Oh Nilly, you draw nostalgia out of me every time I look at your photos! These are so beautiful and include one of my favourite places - Lyme Regis - which is where my son eventually began to talk (at 3 and a quarter) because he was fascinated by the ammonites - his first 'real' word!! And we've shared his passion for all things jurassic and earlier ever since.
Gorgeous, gorgeous photos. Thank you !

    1. What a lovely story! I also had one who didn't say much until that age, though he had a good range of hand-signs & symbols - then it all came out suddenly, sounding very grown-up. Funny little creatures.
